Benefits of Witch Hazel

Benefits of Witch Hazel

Witch hazel, scientifically known as Hamamelis virginiana is native to North America and is widely used for naturopathic and alternative remedies. Below is a list of the possible benefits of witch hazel.

First Aid Kit Use

Witch Hazel is a staple in natural first kits because of its antiseptic properties. It can be used to clean scrapes and wounds in the place of alcohol or hydrogen peroxide.

To Use: Apply a diluted amount of witch hazel and distilled water to clean wounds.

Acne Astringent

Traditional acne cleaning products contain many unnatural and potentially toxic chemicals, which is why using witch hazel as a natural acne treatment is a safer alternative.

To Use: Clean skin thoroughly with soap and water, apply a generous amount of witch hazel to a cotton ball and apply to acne prone areas, leave for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water.

Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are swelling in the veins in your rectum which can cause pain, discomfort, itchiness and/or bleeding. This uncomfortable problem can be remedied by using the natural treatment of witch hazel due its anti-inflammatory, healing properties.

To Use: Apply a wipe or cotton ball directly to the affected area for 30 minutes multiple times daily or until symptoms subside.

Natural Hand Sanitizer

Traditional hand sanitizer can contain unnatural and potentially harmful ingredients, which is why witch hazel mixed with antiseptic essential oils such as lemon, lavender or tea tree is a wonderful alternative when handwashing methods are available.

To Use: Pour alcohol, witch hazel and lavender essential oil into bottle. Shake until all ingredients are mixed. Spray onto hands and rub until dry.

Be sure you choose a 100% pure, organic witch hazel product for any and all uses.
