What is it?

Black pepper essential oil is derived from black peppercorns and turned into liquid form by steam distillation.

How can I use it?

One of the most beneficial uses of black pepper essential oil is its healing benefits when used in massage therapy. Black pepper oil can be used in therapeutic massage to increase the benefits of physical relief. Adding a few drops of this oil into a carrier oil then applying it to sore or painful areas creates a naturally warming sensation, which can increase circulation and help the body restore tissue damage.

Black pepper can be an effective method to manage chronic soreness for athletes and gym junkies. When safely applied topically with a carrier oil, it can minimize discomfort associated with post work out soreness.

What are the benefits?

Black pepper oil when safely applied, creates a warming sensation on the skin which results in vasodilation. This increases blood flow and can help repair damaged tissues. Vasodilation is a necessary part of the body’s healing process. Enhancing blood flow to areas of the body that are lacking oxygen and/or nutrients helps promote healing.

What are the risks?

Only food grade versions of black pepper essential oil should be taken internally. Do not ingest it without discussing it with your healthcare provider. Never start any holistic modality without first contacting your physician to discuss the risks and benefits.
