What is it?

Neroli essential oil is created by steam distillation from extracted the flowers of bitter orange trees.

How can I use it?

Research has shown that Neroli may be beneficial for cardiac health because it impacts vasodilation of the vascular smooth muscle. Neroli is categorized to be a “well-characterized alleviative agent used to treat cardiovascular symptoms.”

Additionally, studies exhibit that Neroli is very beneficial for women because it can increase oxytocin levels. Oxytocin is a hormone produced by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. This hormone is referred to as the “love hormone” because it is released during physical contact such as hugging and at high levels during orgasm. Increasing the body’s levels of oxytocin may be an effective treatment for mental conditions such as depression and anxiety.

What are the benefits?

Neroli oil contains many healing ingredients such as linalool, linalyl acetate, nerolidol and limonene which are believed to provide this oil with biologically active components that can naturally be used as an anti-inflammatory or antimicrobial.

What are the risks?

Neroli is in the category of citrus essential oils, therefore it is best to avoid sun exposure when using it. Do not use this oil if you’re using a tanning bed or are in direct sun exposure.

Neroli essential oil should never be taken internally without discussing it with your healthcare provider. Never start any holistic modality without first contacting your physician to discuss the risks and benefits.
