How can I use it?

Mental Health

Research has shown that chamomile’s mild sedative effect can be used calm nerves, reduce anxiety, to treat hysteria, nightmares, insomnia and other sleep issues. Chamomile essential oil can both be aromatically used in a diffuer or physically applied to skin using a carrier oil in order to promote the healing benefits of this oil.

Cardiac Support

There has been medical evidence that promotes the regular use of flavonoids consumed in food may reduce the risk of mortality from coronary heart disease. In a study performed on patients with cardiac disease after a cardiac catheterization measured their hemodynamic levels obtained prior to and 30 minutes after the oral ingestion of chamomile, these test subjects exhibited a small but significant increase in the mean brachial artery pressure, which indicates that chamomile may be beneficial in cardiac care.

Hemorrhoid Relief

The topical application of chamomile mixed with a safe carrier oil can improve and help heal hemorrhoids. Chamomile can also be added into bath water mixed with Epson salt to promote further healing.

What are the benefits?

Because it contains the healing properties of terpenoids and flavonoids, chamomile can be used as a holistic modality for ailments such as: allergies, muscle soreness, menstrual cramping, insomnia, anxiety, ulcers, wound cleansing, gastrointestinal discomfort, and to soothe hemorrhoids.

What are the risks?

A relatively low percentage of people are sensitive to chamomile and develop allergic reactions to chamomile. However, people sensitive to ragweed and chrysanthemums are more prone to develop contact allergies to chamomile.

Never start any holistic modality without first contacting your physician to discuss the risks and benefits. Also be sure you are choosing a high-quality chamomile product and only ingesting food grade essential oils.
